Meet Alan I. Farber, Attorney at Law
Learn more about our practice at Alan I. Farber, Attorney at Law, in Pittsburgh, PA. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I began practicing law at a medium-sized downtown law firm. My work as a trial lawyer concentrated in the defense of people being sued for motor vehicle and property claims. It also included medical malpractice, products liability, including asbestos claims, and workers’ compensation. After gaining additional trial experience representing injured people I opened my own law office in South Hills.
My background as a trial attorney helps me to evaluate my clients’ general legal needs. From a trial attorney perspective, how might a case appear to a jury? My practice’s philosophy quickly became helping clients plan ahead to avoid litigation and resolve disputes when they arose. To schedule an appointment, call (412) 884-7888 or contact us online.
Meeting Our Clients’ Concerns Every Step of the Way
My law office in South Hills serves a steady stream of clients. Many have concerns over wills and the expense of long term care or nursing home care. Over the past 15 years my practice grew to focus on “elder law” matters. By assisting clients with wills, estate planning, probate, and estate administration, we meet their concerns every step of the way.
We view proper document preparation – wills, power of attorney, and living wills – as the first step in avoiding problems. These documents are important when events take a turn for the worse.
Your Link to the Legal Community
Since opening in 1992, the goal of our practice is to give you practical and meaningful legal advice and services. This allows you to make more informed – and therefore better – decisions. We understand that people hire an attorney while experiencing very stressful situations. Clients need someone who cares about them. This is the reason we make sure our clients receive high-quality legal services and the reassurance they deserve.
As your link to the legal community, Alan I. Farber, Attorney at Law, provides legal assistance to individuals and families. We place great value on using our experience in many different fields of law. Clients depend upon us for fast, knowledgeable advice. Some clients present us with matters beyond our area of focus, such as divorce, personal injury, and criminal matters. We provide referrals or introductions to experienced attorneys who can provide the necessary representation.
My Law Office Offers the Following
Effective Legal Advice and Services
In urgent legal matters, professional expertise is not the only thing that counts. Just as important is winding up these matters smoothly and quickly. We provide you with helpful services in addition to legal advice.
An overview of our services
All hours are by appointment, at our office in Caste Village, Whitehall, in Pittsburgh’s South Hills.
Preparation of a Will and other estate documents always requires two appointments and sometimes more.
When necessary, Attorney Farber makes house calls in the Pittsburgh and South Hills areas.
Services and Fees
I provide services on a flat-fee basis. The reason for flat-fees is so our clients feel comfortable taking the time to tell us their wishes and concerns. A flat fee lessens nervousness or anxiety about the “clock ticking” during the consultation.
We typically handle the following matters on a flat-fee basis:
Simple Will for an Individual
Normally this involves one or two consultations: the initial meeting to discuss your wishes and concerns, gather information, and perhaps prepare the document and sign it. If necessary, we will hold a second meeting to review the drafted will and sign the document.
Complete Estate Package for an Individual
An Estate Package includes a Will, Durable Power of Attorney, and Living Will, and normally involves two meetings – one to gather information and answer questions, and a second meeting to review and sign the documents.
Husband and Wife Complete Estate Packages
This includes Wills, Durable Power of Attorneys, and Living Wills for each spouse, and normally requires two meetings.
The Purpose of Complete Estate Packages
Complete Estate Packages include Wills, Durable Power of Attorney, and Living Will documents. These make it easier for you to take care of your spouse and make it easier for your spouse. Such documents permit your spouse, children, family, or other caregivers to provide care and handle your affairs.
My office strongly recommends complete estate packages because we care about our clients and want to ensure protection. While we hope you never need them, your Durable Power of Attorney and Living Will are important papers. These provide everything you need in the event of illness or incapacity. Document preparation enables your family or other caregiver to assist you in the event that you cannot care for yourself.
